How To Draw Holly Shiftwell

I don't understand how people say Cars 2 doesn't have that 'Pixar Charm' because, like, it does?

Mater is constantly being told throughout the entire movie to be something he's not, and at one point it's literally said to his face that everyone see's him as a fool. He gives up on himself. He starts to see himself the same way everyone else does: the idiot tow truck.

Despite all that, he gathers the courage to push forward and fix the problem at hand, all by himself, while people are STILL treating him badly.

And I, personally, found it pretty heartwarming that everyone was willing to come together in the end to help Mater overcome all that. Plus, the growth between Holley and Finn is just amazing to watch.

Now, we have all of that put into a SPY MOVIE. A spy movie that STILL FIT THE CARS SERIES (somewhat) at that! That's insane!

That being said, Cars 2 is officially queer coded.

Hello there! I'm really enjoying your blog so far! I also wanted to ask, what are your thoughts on Holley Shiftwell? I've noticed she's a character who gets a lot of hate for some reason :<

Good morning !

First of all thank you for the compliment it touches me a lot that people follow me and appreciate what I post!

And then I didn't know that people don't like Holley, you're teaching me something!

It's true ! Holley is smart; focused on what she sets her mind to do and a very sweet girl!

We see in Cars 2 that she may be much underestimated her abilities but is able to go for it when it comes to protecting the people she loves!

She's a lovely person and I really don't understand why people don't like him!

She might reject Mater's love at first, but imagine that someone you're supposed to be working with starts flirting with you without warning, this is something to be wary of because we don't know if that person really loves us!

I'm not criticizing Mater at all, don't imagine that!

It is true that he did not know that she was a spy or why she approached her so it is normal that he could have had this conclusion!

I just used to put myself in every Cars character in every situation they're in because to me they're not just 3D stuff but people like you and me who have a personality; emotions and a life!

So let's get back to the point!

Holley is a sweet and intelligent girl who is there for the people who are important to her and doesn't hesitate to put on the tires to help them and watch over them!

Exactly like Mater with his friends!

And that's one of the reasons the two of them make such a great couple because they have a lot in common about the way they are with those around them!

So I really like Holley Shiftwell because she is Mater's girlfriend (who between us finally deserves a lover because seriously how such an adorable person can stay single all her life!) and because she is a wonderful girlfriend!

And also because I like to imagine the fact that she could be Sally's best friend because of their many points in common!

So I don't understand why people don't like him and that makes me as sad as when I discovered that there are people who don't like Cruz!

But everyone has the right to have their opinion so I'm not going to interact with that!

But otherwise I hope that my answer suits you and that it helps you, whatever the way!

This is going to sound dark but what would happen if at Porta Cosa, the racers got killed? The guilt that Finn and Holley would feel failing to save them? I'm sorry if it's dark!

I think in a less PG-rated situation, this likely would have been the case!

I'm going to dare to say that while Finn and Holley would have felt a little remorse, it wouldn't necessarily be because the racers lost their lives. Their goal is to stop the lemons, and their only allegiance is to each other as agents - and even that's not super deep. They hold no emotional connection to the racers themselves - sure it's sad that they're gone, but the real guilt stems from not solving their mission in time, and stopping the lemons. That's their job, and their expectations for their own performance are higher than that.

Sometimes lives are lost along the way. Sometimes, they are agents' lives, sometimes it's the civilians. It's nothing new, unfortunately. The world spins on. The racers' fans will mourn, and they will eventually get over it.

But there's still a mission, there's a puzzle to solve, and that takes utmost priority. There's no time for feelings.

Holley Shiftwell || Twenty-Nine || Secret Agent || Non-Magical

"Trying to turn back time. If I can just reverse the polarity..."

🌹Biography:

Holley grew up in London with two parents who were often off working. She lived in a big estate and was given the finest education, private music lessons, and care that anyone would be lucky to have. Holley was smart and she was always one step ahead of her tutors in just about everything; she was so eager to learn and be involved with as much as she could. Her favorite things were anything involving tech or martial arts. She knew on the outside she came off as this cute little girl, but she had the ambition of a tiger and wanted to make sure she could defend herself. She didn't know much of her parents work, but she knew enough that she had seen her mother come home with bruises and assumed there was some danger with it. It wasn't until she was sixteen that she learned that her parents were international spies and that their objective was to keep the world safe from magic.

At first, Holley thought it was a joke; but then she was told about Walt Grove. When they were away on business, they were investigating Walt Grove and its strange activity. Now that she was old enough she too was going to be sent to Walt Grove for the sake of their research and Holley was put into more advanced training right away. She was ecstatic to learn all of this because she was able to be closer with her parents. They taught her everything she needed to know about Walt Grove and her mission began the moment it was time for college. She enrolled at Walt Grove University and began her studies and her mission. She knew she was not going to be able to stay in Walt Grove forever but she fell in love with the place. She loved how quirky the people were, she loved how much the town seemed to come alive when it came to local events, and as years started to pass she learned that she really wanted to stay and get more involved with the place. Her involvement and her training resulted in a letter on her doorstep from a group called The Order of the Rose.

Somehow Holley had never heard of The Order until that moment. Her parents must have been seeking it out and she knew she should be too. But instead of exposing it off the bat she decided to accept the offer and join. A secret agency that was hellbent on protecting Walt Grove and the source of its magic; it was safe to say Holley was both thrilled and concerned. For a good amount of time she was told magic was dangerous but she saw firsthand that magic had some good to it. So she decided to keep that part away from her family, from her original mission. She got a permanent apartment in Walt Grove and lied through her teeth to her parents whenever they asked how she was doing. While she lied and said she didn't have any answers she was working actively with The Order and forming her own opinions. She was getting to know the people better, especially an older gent that went by Mater. He was so oblivious to the world around him that Holley was convinced he was a secret agent as well. Until she knew what side he was on, she decided to keep him close, get to know him, and go from there. She knew eventually her double life would catch up to her but until then she was making the most of her time at Walt Grove.

🌹Opinions on Magic:

Can be good in the right hands. But sadly, there were a lot of people in Walt Grove that didn't fit that description.

🌹Connections:

Marisol Gonzalez: She's bright, she's sweet, and Holley adores her. She goes to her for scientific purposes mostly, but every now and then she'll ask the woman if she wants a drink.

Michel Mouse: His ties with The Order make him a very valuable ally. She goes to him for questions on how to keep balance, work-related manners, and him being cute is honestly a bonus.

Billy Cipher: Public enemy number one. She's heard about his work, his group, but sadly has not seen enough evidence to turn him in. Plus, she doesn't want to go in without some sort of protection against his magic.
